P10. Group of Daniel Aberdam

Their research interest focuses on the function of the various p63 isoforms and to the identification of their target genes during ectodermal commitment and epidermal differentiation. They recently demonstrated that, under experimental culture conditions, murine embryonic stem cells can differentiate into keratinocytes and even reconstitute in vitro a functional epidermis. Their laboratory has further developed a unique cellular model that recapitulates embryonic development of epidermis and skin appendages. They derived and established ectodermal precursor cell lines from murine embryonic stem (ES) cells and demonstrated that exogenous expression of TAp63 is sufficient to convert the ES-derived ectodermal cells into keratinocytes. This partner has expertise in transcriptome analysis approaches coupled with functional genomic techniques (siRNA, overexpression, ChIP). In addition, they have in house technology to evaluate the potential involvement of the identified genes on epidermal and skin appendage commitments in vitro and in vivo after grafting of the resulting cells onto syngenic mice.
