Epistem Homepage

Introduction

Epistem is an integrated project of the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme* (LSHB-CT-2005-019067). The main goal is to study the role of p63* and related pathways in epithelial stem cell proliferation and differentiation and in rare Ectrodactyly Ectodermal dysplasia (EEC*) - related syndromes. The focus of Epistem is to generate new knowledge and translate it into applications that enhance human health. To this end both fundamental and applied research will be involved.

Sixth Framework Epistem brings together leading European clinicians, geneticists, molecular and cellular biologists, structural biologists, a drug designer and bioinformatics specialists in the field of p63 (and related molecules) research. The consortium counts 11 partners coming from 7 different European countries and since 01/01/2007 2 new Asian partners joined the project. The budget of the project is approx. 18 million Euro whereof 8.13 million Euro research funding is received from the European Community's Sixth Framework Programme*. The project started at 01/01/2006 and has a duration of 48 months.

1st May 2009:
Epistem will organise with cdd conferences a p63/p73 Workshop in Toronto Canada at the end of August. More info click here

1st February 2009:
The 4th Core meeting will be held in Ghent in June 2009

4th January 2009:
The 4th and final Annual meeting will be held in Rome in November 2009

11-12th December 2008:
The 3rd Annual meeting was held in London

8th April 2008:
The 3rd Annual meeting will be held in London at 11-12 December 2008

13th March 2008:
The core meeting will be held in Geneva at 22rd June 2008

27th-29th Februari 2008:

15th Februari 2008:
The registration of the Ghent 2008 Conference is now closed.

3rd-4th December 2007:
The annual Epistem meeting was held in Milan

24th October 2007:
The registration of the Ghent 2008 Conference is now open.

20th June 2007:
The website of the Ghent 2008 Conference is online. This site is still under construction and will be regularly updated. You can already find venue information, prelimenary schedules, etc.

9th June 2007:
The core meeting was held in Stockholm at 8th June 2007.

10th January 2007:
More information about Ectodermal Dysplasia is added at the EDS-page. The glossary is also updated with more information regarding the diseases.

18th December 2006:
At 11-12 December, the Annual meeting in Nice took place. Reports/presentations are available at the login part. The Calendar of the next year (intern and extern events) is available.

27th November 2006:
From 01/01/2007 two new partners will join the consortium, namely CMU 12 from Thailand and SJTU 13 from China. This is as a result of a Specific call from the EU to promote the participation of partners from Targeted Third Countries in projects for which contracts are already signed or under negotiation in priority thematic areas of research. 23rd August 2006:
The next Epistem General meeting for all partners will be held in Nice (France) at 11-12th December 2006

22nd August 2006:
The Management Core meeting took place in Nijmegen (the Netherlands)

8th May 2006:
A brochure is now available with all kinds of information about the Epistem project.

11th April 2006 (updated on 19th april):
A media page has been constructed. Here you'll find out how Epistem came in the media. Now there are some interesting video-fragments available of Prof. John McGrath, a partner (5) from the consortium who gives explanation about EDS*.

10th March 2006:
A glossary has been added, where some of the keywords are explained. By going over the keywords at the different pages, you'll get information about it.

28th February 2006:
The login pages for the partners of the consortium is constructed.
